BIRTH OF A CHAMPION

From being a young talent, Sunny was always eager to fight in the ring. So soon as he turned 18, the legal age required for a person to participate in a full contact sport, Sunny made his debut. His first fight was a three round fight against the 23 year old Nassar Hussain from Coventry. Even though Sunny was the younger and inexperienced fighter, that did not deter him. Sunny went on to win all three rounds and won the fight by a unanimous vote. A great start to a successful career!

In 2002 then aged 19, Sunny fought for the WAKO – PRO Midlands Area Title. It was to be his first five round fights in which he managed to stop his opponent David Savage with an onslaught of punches in the fifth round forcing Savage to quit. Within a year of winning his Midlands title Sunny got the opportunity to fight for a second Midlands title. This would be at 60kg, a weight division above his normal 57kg fighting weight. He went up against Ryan Morgan from Lincoln. Although giving away height, weight and the fact it was in Lincoln, Sunny managed to get a split decision win and achieved his second Midlands title.
